Enter the Dragon

*Laying down on her bed with a book open to an empty page displayed. Wearing nothing more than a white tank top and shorts. Holding an ice pack to the right side of her face with the right hand. Twirling a pen in the left and spends a few moments to collect and recollect the events of the day. The day, already ready gone as the moon wanes in the sky.*

Jeez... Mom needs to hold back on me once in a while.

*Bringing the pen to the paper after waiting for the pain to subside. With a clear mind and a steady script. Suta begins writing her tale in belief that no one will ever read it.*

Dear...Future Me.

It's January 16, XXXX. It's cold here up in the mountains but that's nothing new. I guess since I can't talk to Hiro about any of my problems since he's being a total jerk. I'll just start writing everything that has happened when I get time.

Today was like any other day or so I thought. Pop's been acting really weird lately. I mean weirder than usual like he took me shopping. Should I be worried? Mom has decided to step up on my training to prepare for the exams since I bombed the last one. I'm just hoping that once this passes and if luck is with me then she'll give me some breathing room. In truth I doubt that but here's to hope. I'll tell more as my life moves on.

*Setting the pen down and closes the book. Rolling on her back to stare at the ceiling. Shutting her eyes, letting out a heavy sigh as it turns to sound sleep from the crickets chirping their song.*

*Becoming ingulphed by a mountain of cushions. But resting comfortably upon them as her favorite book is opened to a new clean page. With a wide grin that is stretched from cheek to cheek. Adds a new chapter in her life.*

To the Me in the future.

It’s January 31th and it’s the best freaking day ever! I finally took and passed the Chunin exams! That was a nightmare that I don’t ever want to live through ever again.

The first part of it was to get a scroll out of a glass case which was filled with some weird gas. First thing given and I couldn’t figure it out. Seeing that one of the other person just smashed the case and burned the scroll. So I guessed that contact with air causes it to ignite. I’ve tried a few basic moves to get it out but that botched and with a time limit to boot. I figured that I’ll just wing it and see what happens.

The next part was a survival “game” and it was anything but a game. Teamed up with a girl from Mist and she was next to useless. Got out of that one barely sane as there was hardly any food where the second part was. When I did get something edible there was something there ready and robbed me of it. Then there the leeches…

*A cold shiver flashes down her body with the horrifying memory*

I never want to go back to Water country for as long as I live. I honestly believe that place is worst than the lowest level of the underworld. No wonder many of the shinobi from there are batsh*t crazy.

Oh! The last part was an one of one battle. Everyone had to draw a number and fight each other. The person I faced really had a death wish and his attacks were too weak to be of worry. It was an easy enough win but that felt too easy. Azumi is a better battler than that guy. Think he was from…don’t remember.

After that I get a notice that now I’m no longer a pet chasing genin but a pet chasing chunin. My parents are happy now and Pop’s drops bomb on me. I might have a sleeping power that is from his side of the family and thinks I should be ready to unleash it. I looked at him like “Really Pop! You couldn’t tell me this BEFORE going into the exams!” That would have been such a cool Ace in the Hole. Well I guess he wanted me to become of full fledged member to society before getting it and that’s fine. He said that I’ll learn the full scope and everything soon.

*Crashing upon her bed. Half soaked in water from a long bath. Sporting a towel around her form and breathing heavy from exhaustion. Half heartedly reaches for her journal and locates a blank page. Taking the pen from its holding case that is included on to the book. Suta dives into her writing more of what she believes to be worthwhile stories to store for future telling.*

Hey to the Future Me.

It’s February 6th and it’s been a crazy week. First Mom makes me collect enough firewood to build a village after drilling me with techniques followed by a spar. Then Pop sits me down by the fire and pretty much told me his life story. Telling me that Hiryu is just a cover name for who he really was, a Doryu.

As the tale goes, the daughter of a wealthy artisan, by the name Reipe who was in love with Ibei the son of a well known noble. But the feelings were one sided as his love was not for her but a peasant girl named Kari. No matter how much wealth the Reipe displayed the young man seemed to not pay any attention.

Then one day an announcement of the son’s engagement to the peasant was approaching. The night before the festivities she, under the light of the full moon had prayed for a way to keep the young man for herself. The prayer was answered in the form of a spirit of a white serpent. Who promised Reipe that she would gain the power to make anyone love her if she offers her soul to it. Without hesitation in her decision Reipe and the serpent became one.

The day of the wedding and it was quite the celebration. Song, dance and fine food everything was as expected until one of Ibei’s servants informed the soon to be bride that the groom was missing. But before a search party was formed Reipe came into the room with a gift of her own. Towed into the ball room was something draped in a cloth and placed in the center of the room.

“I have a gift of my own to give the happy couple but since the bride isn’t here. I thought to present it anyway.”

Her servants pull back the cover to the present. What appears as a lifelike stature of appears to be Ibei. A look of pure horror on the statue’s face as well as shock that sweeps across all the onlookers within the room.

“Do you like it? I made this great piece just for the occasion.” “What is this?” The worried woman demanded. “This is my beloved Ibei. It’s the very same that YOU stole from me you filthy peasant!” Venomous rage drips with every word Reipe says. I’ve decided that if I can’t have him. Neither will you!”

Reipe turns towards the statue and pushes it with every ounce of strength she has. Tipping it over, causing the statue to shatter into many pieces. Screams of horror echo across the hall and guards storm into the room. Before they could come and detain Reipe. She shimmers and fades from sight. But no one has heard from her ever again. She did have children later in life from multiple lovers. Leaving only shattered statues in her wake.

*Shaking her writing hand to loosen the incoming crap that was building up from all of the writing.*

Oh what ever goodness that is in heaven I never realized how long of a story it was until putting pen to paper. And I think I may have jumbled story up. But to recap from the story. 1) Rich girl loves boy but boy doesn’t love rich girl. 2) Boy loves poor girl. 3) Rich girl becomes jealous and makes a deal with a demon. 4) Curses love interest and kill him. Thinks that sums it all up? Well what ever. It’s late and I’m tired.

*The soft tune of rain fills this temporary home a serene feel. Her clothes soaked from the sudden arrival of the downpour lay across the large stones within the interior. Suta huddles close to the small camp fire. Thankfully most of her equipment remained safe as she takes out her log book and documents the events that has transpired.*

Okay. It’s April 10th and I’ve been here in earth country for at least a week now and haven’t found anything. This place is so wrecked. I’m running out of food. This is becoming the exams all over again I swear.

I went to look in the library for any records of pop’s home and so far all that I’ve got is that in the park district. I bet this place rocked before its destruction. I’m going to dive back within the next few days and should this proves worthless then I’m going to count it as a lost then head home.
